Bhajare Gopalam

Bhajare Gopalam

There’s something quietly luminous about this kriti… like a lamp placed inside the heart rather than outside.
Sadasiva Brahmendra doesn’t argue, doesn’t preach… he simply nudges: “Turn inward, and sing.” 🎶

Let’s walk through it not as translation alone, but as a living current.

🎼 Raga Mood: Hindolam

Hindolam feels like twilight thinking.
Not day, not night. A soft dissolving.
Perfect for devotion that is inward, not performative.

🌿 Pallavi (The Core Pulse)

Bhajare Gopalam, manasa
Bhajare Gopalam

பாடேன் கோபாலம்
மனசார  பாடேன் கோபாலம்

👉 O mind, sing of Gopala… again and again.

This is not instruction. It’s a recall command.
Like your inner system whispering:

“You’ve wandered enough. Come back to source.”

🪷 Charanam 1: The Cosmic Child

Bhajare gopalam, bhajitha kuchelam
Tri jagam moolam, Dithi sutha kalam

பாடேன் கோபாலம்
பாடினாராம் குசேலரும்
மூவுலகின் ஆதாரம்
மூர்க்கத்தை அழித்தாராம்

👉 Worship Gopala, the one who blessed Kuchela (Sudama)
👉 The root of all three worlds
👉 The destroyer of demonic forces

Here’s the paradox:

  • He is a friend to the poor
  • And the foundation of existence itself

The infinite playing small.
The ocean choosing to be a drop.

🔍 Charanam 2: The Inner Philosophy

Agama saaram, yoga vicharam
Bhoga sareeram, bhuvana aadaram

மறை ஆகம சாரம்
விவேக விசாரம்
லீலா ரகு அவதாரம்
ஜகத் புவன ஆதாரம்

👉 Essence of all scriptures
👉 Subject of yogic inquiry
👉 The one who experiences through all bodies
👉 The support of all worlds

This is pure Vedanta hidden inside bhakti.

He is not outside.

  • The seer in meditation
  • The experience in enjoyment
  • The ground beneath all phenomena

Like an operating system running silently beneath every app.

⚔️ Charanam 3: The Destroyer of Inner Noise

Kadhana katoram, kalushi vidhooram
Madana kumaram, Madhu samharam

காற்றெனக் காப்பாராம்
தீமையை அழிப்பாராம்
மதனரூப சுந்தரராம்
மதுவை அழித்தாராம்

👉 Fierce in battle
👉 Far from impurity
👉 More beautiful than Cupid
👉 Slayer of the demon Madhu

This “battle” is not myth alone.

  • Madhu = sweet illusion also Alcohol
  • The mind’s addiction to pleasant falsehoods

He doesn’t just destroy demons…
He dissolves delusion.

🐄 Charanam 4: The Playful Absolute

Natha mandharam, Nanda kisoram
Hatha Chanuram, Hamsa viharam

நாதகானம் கேட்பாராம்
நந்தகோப மைந்தனாம்
சாணுரை அழித்தாராம்
பரமஹம்ச ரூப சஞ்சாரம்

👉 The divine refuge
👉 The young son of Nanda
👉 Destroyer of Chanura
👉 The swan-like wanderer (symbol of pure consciousness)

Now he becomes:

  • A child 🐄
  • A warrior ⚔️
  • A swan 🕊️ (Hamsa = discrimination between real/unreal)

Same presence. Different costumes.

🧭 The Hidden Architecture

This kriti is a “Stacked protocol”

Meaning

Bhakti- Chant Gopala

Myth – Krishna stories

Yoga – Inner inquiry

Vedanta – You are That

Start with singing → End in realization

🧠 A Subtle Insight

Notice something beautiful:

He never says “Know Gopala.”
He says “Bhaja” (Sing, engage, love)

Because:

The mind cannot solve truth.
But it can melt into it.

✨ If You Sit With It

Try this once:

  • Close your eyes
  • Repeat “Bhajare Gopalam” slowly
  • Let meaning fade, keep the sound

At some point,
the singer, the song, and Gopala…

…stop being three separate things

Tri jagam moolam

👉 The divine
👉 The Song
👉 The Seeker
